Welcome to our Website!

We are a group of 8 singers and an accompanist, based in and around Settle in North Yorkshire, who perform a wide range of vocal music, some of it unaccompanied, drawing from much of the classical repertoire of 16th-20th centuries (and even into the 21st!), and in a lighter vein from the jazz-and swing-orientated music of the first half of the 20th century.

Octameron was formed in 1996, although many members of the group have been singing together in one form or another for much longer than this. We have given a large number of concerts in our area over the years, often by invitation from fund-raising charities and similar.

Our aim is to make sure that our concerts include something for everybody. With this in mind we have an extensive and varied repertoire which includes music by such composers as Purcell, Tallis, Mozart, Bach, Byrd, Gabrieli and Vivaldi, together with Kern, Gershwin and Cole Porter. Gilbert & Sullivan and songs from the shows also feature in our concerts which include solo items as well as duets and trios and even, in appropriate circumstances, a barbershop quartet. We believe we can put together a programme to suit any occasion.

We are available for engagements such as weddings and other special occasions. Please us for more information about this.

Above all Octameron aims to entertain and share its love of music and singing. We have produced three CDs: 'In The Mood', produced in 2006, followed in 2009 by 'Anything Goes', and in 2016 'Octameron at Christmas' - a recording of seasonal pieces, traditional carols and songs. Details of these can be found on the Recordings page .

In September 2018 we will be back in the recording studio again to record a new CD, which will include a selection of popular and classical pieces from our current repertoire.
